PHNOM PENH - Jailed Khmer Rouge ideologue Nuon Chea has once again denied charges he was responsible for the mass killings that took place at the infamous prison of Tuol Sleng.

Some 16,000 people were tortured and subsequently executed at the prison, known to the Khmer Rouge as S-21, under the supervision of Kaing Kek Iev, better known as Comrade Duch.

The UN-backed tribunal has sentenced Duch to life in prison for his role at Tuol Sleng.

Duch said during his trial at the court he had been ordered in part by Nuon Chea to execute prisoners.
