A member of the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) wrote a letter to Minister of Commerce Cham Prasith urging him to stop the activities of at leaset three businesses that use the pyramid scheme to operate in Cambodia.
In the letter, Mr. Son Chhay said if the ministry of commerce does not stop these companies, many Cambodian people will lodge their complaints against these companies and that there will be social unrest.
The representative of one of the companies told VOA last week that his business is legitimate and does not force anybody to join.
Because the letter was sent out so late on Friday, VOA could not contact the ministry of commerce for comments
