Cambodian National Assembly overwhelmingly approved the W-T-O bill Tuesday allowing the country to become the 148th member of the World Trade Organization.
Commerce Minister Cham Prasidh said Cambodia and its economy will benefit from the WTO membership. He said with reforms Cambodia will benefit from the WTO.
President of the opposition party Mr. Sam Rainsy agreed that Cambodia must join the world body but questioned what Cambodia could sell to compete with the other members.
Mr. Cham Prasidh thanked Mr. Sam Rainsy for his support but disagreed with the opposition party leader. Mr. Cham said the government has plans for reforms that would help the Cambodian farmers and to reduce corruption
