The office of the International Republican Institute(IRI)in Phnom Penh expresses its concern for the opposition party after prime minister Hun Sen publicly accused Mr. Sam Rainsy of forming an illegal army in Cambodia.
Mr. Hun Sen said he ordered an investigation and warned that Mr. Rainsy could lose his parliamentary immunity. IRI director in Phnom Penh, Mr. Jackson Cox described Mr. Hun Sen's speech as a threat.
Mr. Jackson said he will let the international community and friends in Washington know about the current situation in Cambodia.
The IRI director also said IRI and its friends around the world will stay with the democrats in Cambodia.
