A Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) activist was injured by a grenade and gun attack early Thursday morning in Prey Veng province. The Sam Rainsy party calls the attack politically motivated. But local police says it's personal dispute.
After regaining consciousness in an ambulance on his way to a Phnom Penh hospital, Mr. Saroeun admitted to VOA by phone that his attacker was a former soldier who owed him money that he had to bring a legal action to try to collect that money. An SRP spokesman said Saroeun sustained serious injury from shrapnel and may lose one eye.
