The US Embassy in Phnom Penh today issued a statement saying it was shocked and saddened by the news of Chea Vichea's murder, and urged the Cambodian government to make a maximum effort to conduct an effective investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The statement also said the acts of violence, including this cowardly murder, imperil the rights of all Cambodians and jeopardize progress toward a more peaceful, democratic and prosperious Cambodia. It added the culture of impunity must come to an end.
