At least 200 students from scores of Cambodian universities Wednesday ended a campaign to educate Cambodians on issues surrounding the Khmer Rouge tribunal.
The students campaigned for a week, across 23 municipalities and provinces, disseminating documents and fact sheets as educational guides to the tribunal process. This was the third annual campaign.
"Our strategy is for the students to participate in the court procedure, and for them to help in informing the people about the court, and for them to understand the law governing the Khmer Rouge," said Ser Sayana, head of the project, which was sponsored by the Documentation Center of Cambodia. "Some students do not believe there was a Khmer Rouge regime, and they know about it when they go around to do the interviews."
