Addressing a growing crisis in Cambodia's health sector, officials from Kampong Cham province have been struggling to educate doctors and pharmacists on spotting fake medicine, which are at best ineffective and at worst lethal.
Kampong Cham Health Clinic Deputy Chief Chheang Sena, who is in charge of fighting against the use of fake medicines, said he has educated more than 1,000 officials and laymen in 11 sessions.
"The first step is to implement the law governing medicines, [then] to educate the people so they know about the law...including the governance of fake medicine, expired medicine [and] poor-quality medicine, so that they understand," he said.
