Phnom Penh authorities have denied permission to the Norodom Ranariddh Party to stage a demonstration at the city courts. Party officials said they wanted to hold a mass rally in support of the prince, who received a prison sentence in absentia Tuesday, but city authorities said Tuesday the rally would not serve the public good and was a tactic to influence the courts.

The UNDP and Cambodian government announced Tuesday the percentage of coverage each political party will get in the run-up to the April 1 commune elections. The Cambodian People's Party will receive 38 percent; opposition Sam Rainsy party, 28 percent; Funcinpec, 20 percent; and Norodom Randariddh party 11 percent.

A Cambodian group supporting victims of HIV and AIDS has asked Prime Minister Hun Sen to intervene in the eviction of the people from a development site in Phnom Penh. Poor people from 152 families at the site are being evicted, and some of them suffer from HIV-AIDS.
