Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Barry F. Lowenkron, is visiting Cambodia to assess democracy and human rights issues.
The visit started this past Sunday and Mr. Lowenkron also plans to meet top government officials, civil society and opposition officials.
U.S. Embassy spokesman, Mr. Jeff Daigle in Phnom Penh told VOA a few hours ago that Barry F. Lowenkron wants to understand more about human rights issues in Cambodia. He plans to meet Prime Minister Hun Sen Tuesday morning.
Jeff Daigle has not given any details about the meetings, but he says that Mr. Lowenkron has already participated in a public forum organized by Cambodia Center for Human Rights (CCHR), headed by Kem Sokha.
