Canadian Soldier, 11 Taleban Killed in Afghanistan

NATO forces in southern Afghanistan say they have killed 11 Taleban militants.

NATO officials say 15 insurgents were planning an ambush in Kandahar province late Tuesday when NATO aircraft bombed their compound. It was unclear what happened to the other four.

Separately, a Canadian soldier who was wounded in a suicide car-bomb attack Tuesday in Kandahar city died from his wounds today (Wednesday). Three other NATO soldiers were wounded.

NATO officials say troops killed one Afghan civilian and wounded another hours after the suicide bombing. Troops fired on the two civilians as they approached on a motorbike. Military officials say they did not heed calls to stop.

Today (Wednesday), Afghan officials say two roadside bombs planted by suspected Taleban militants, also in Kandahar, killed three civilians and wounded one.
