The Israeli army says commandos have captured five Hezbollah fighters deep inside Lebanon, while the guerrilla group fired more than 160 rockets into Israel.
Israel says its forces seized the Hezbollah fighters and killed 10 others in a raid in the city of Baalbek near the Syrian border. Hezbollah says those captured are civilians. Lebanese officials say 15 civilians died in the raid.
Other Israeli air strikes hit an army post in a southern village (Sarba), killing three Lebanese soldiers. And thousands of Israeli ground troops are fighting in southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Israeli officials say Hezbollah rockets killed one Israeli near the border town of Nahariya. Other rockets hit 70 kilometers inside Israel and stray rockets landed in the West Bank.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert says Israel will keep fighting until international peacekeepers are deployed in Lebanon.
Israeli troops and Hezbollah also are locked in fierce battles at several fronts along the border in southern Lebanon, where three Israeli soldiers were killed and 25 others wounded during fighting on Tuesday.
Israel says its three-week offensive has killed several hundred guerrillas, but Hezbollah denies its losses have been that great.
