Senate to Send Amended Law 50% Plus One Back to Parliament


The Senate Wednesday decides to send back the constitutional amendment of the 50% plus one formula to the National Assembly without studying or passing it due to lack of quorum.

The newly appointed senators who are newly elected have not sworn in for the office and former senators are not present at the meeting.

There are 61 senators, and in it 57 are elected by the people and the commune from the three main parties, and 4 others are appointed by the Senate and the King.

Senate Secretary General Um Sarith says that this adoption of the amendment of formula 50% plus one in such a hurry has to be done in five days, and the Senate is in transition, and is looking for quorum.
