Prime Minister Hun Sen Thursday decides to reduce the people's poverty by 2020 when the poverty level falls to the current one.
This ambitious goal to reduce poverty happens when 35% of Cambodian people live below poverty level and after serious criticism from national and international arenas.
At a national poverty conference 2006 at the Phnom Penh Intercontinental hotel, Prime Minister Hun Sen says that this new goal is ambitious and it comes from the assessment of the Cambodian people's poverty and he wants to lift the people's life from poverty by 2020.
He says that the goal can be reached.
Ms. Nisha Agrawa, World Bank's executive officer in Cambodia says that the number of people who live below poverty line fell from 47% ten years ago and is now at 35%.
