National Election Committee Denies Fraud on Sunday Senate Election


The National Election Committee (NEC) dismisses charges that Sunday senate election lacks transparency, is unfair, and is a fraud.

NEC's secretary Tep Nitha and another official say that the election was done without incident.

Sunday's election result shows that the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) receives 7854 votes, royalist FUNCINPEC party receives 2320 votes, opposition Sam Rainsy party receives 1165 votes, and the Democratic party receives 13 votes.

Sam Rainsy party losts the support of 205 commune council members, the CPP gains 78, and FUNCINPEC party gains 83 votes.
