Reactions to King's Signing of Supplemental Treaty

There are reactions from people after King Sihamoni signed the controversial supplemental treaty which Prime Minister Hun Sen signed with Vietnam at the beginning of October.

One man in Kampong Cham province said that he is very disappointed by this decision, but that the power lies in the king, there was no referendum, and that he can do nothing about this. Another man in Memot town, Kampong Cham province which borders Vietnam has heard about the Vietnamese border violations in the Daung village, and he is unhappy about the king's decision.

A former student of the Royal Phnom Penh University said that the people will not rest and a group of people know the treaty is illegal.

Opposition Sam Rainsy party's (SRP) spokeman Ung Bun Ang says that the party will review it if it wins the election in 2008.

The Center for Social Development's president Ms. Chea Vannath said that the border issue will not stop because the Cambodian people do not accept this treaty and do not agree with the government.

High ranking officials said that the king's decision is a victory for Cambodia.
