Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday orders the broadcasting and publication of documents on negotiations about border issues in the 1960s between former King Norodom Sihanouk and the Vietnamese leaders so that people understand the border issues.
Speaking at a commencement ceremony in Phnom Penh today, Hun Sen said he wants hundreds of thousands of copies to be available to the people so that they will stop accusing him of selling Cambodian land to Vietnam.
All government TV and radio stations are currently broadcasting former King Sihanouk's two statements in 1999 and 2005 on border issues and documents on Sihanouk's negotiations with Vietnam in 1964.
In the 1964 negotiations the former King proposed that the islands controlled by Vietnam belong to Vietnam and those islands controlled by Cambodia belong to Cambodia if Vietnam recognized that Cambodia's demand to take back Kampuchea Krom is legitimate.
So far there's has been no reaction from former King Sihanouk to Mr. Hun Sen's comments.
Director of the Center for Social Development Chea Vannath said that the leaders should sit down and discuss the matter.
