London Police Shoot Man on London Subway

British officials say police have shot dead a man at a London subway station, one day after suspects set off four small explosions on the transit system.

Authorities have not released details of today's (Friday's) shooting, which took place at (Stockwell,) a station just one stop away from where one of the blasts took place Thursday.

There are (British media) reports the man was a suspected suicide bomber.

Meanwhile, London commuters began returning to subway trains and buses while police continued their search for the suspects in Thursday's lunch hour attacks, which caused no serious injuries.

Authorities say they have considerable evidence in their investigation of the explosions on three subway trains and a bus that came two weeks after similar bombings on the transit system killed 56 people.

A group called the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades has claimed responsibility for Thursday's explosions in a posting on an Islamic web site. The same group, which says it is part al-Qaida, also has claimed responsibility for the July 7th bombings. Authorities have not authenticated the claim.
