Former King Norodom Sihanouk today stated that the government should not sell his residence. He announced that the government should stop selling state properties. He said that he wants to give it for the Nation, and the Khmer people to use as King Jayavarman the VII museum.
The monarch gave it to North Korea to use as its Embassy for 20 years. Mr. Khiev Kanharith, Minister of Information and the government spokesman said that former King Sihanouk's residence belongs to him and the government will not sell it.
Mr. Eng Chhay Ieng, opposition Sam Rainsy party's Secretary said that the monarch warned against selling state properties, not just his own.
