The villagers in Phnom Sruoch town, Kampong Speu Province, took to the streets for demonstration against land grabbing by Cambodia Golden Land Company. The concession land of 490,000 acres, for a 70 year contract, was sold by the government to Cambodia Golden Land.
The group uprooted the fences, leveled the villagers' rice fields and dismantled their huts. The guarding soldiers barred reporters from going in to interview the villagers.
Chab Nalyvuth, Kampong Speu Province's governor, said the demonstrators' representatives should bring their complaints to the province council.
