Cambodia Appoints a New Ambassador to Brunei

Acting on a letter to Prime Minister Hun Sen Monday, the Ministy of Foreign Affairs appoints a lawmaker, the quota from the FUNCINPEC party for a position of Ambassador from the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Kingdom of Brunei.

This appointment was made after FUNCINPEC party's leader and National assembly's president Prince Norodom Ranariddh sent a letter on February 7 to Mr. Hun Sen asking him to appoint Mr. Nan Sy, to succeed outgoing Ambassador Ith Cheth Tola.

King Sihamoni has not issued a royal decree formally appointing the new ambassador yet.

Royal palace officials say that the request for the changing of position and the appointment of a new position has reached the royal palace's office.

Mr. Nan Sy, a candidate for the new ambassador's position welcomes the idea saying, Prince Ranariddh's decision and Mr. Hun Sen's concensus to support him make him accept this important position to serve the country's interest.

He is 43 years old, and is a special missionary of Prince Ranaridh, FUNCINPEC party's under secretary, and president of special border issues and immigration affairs of the FUNCINPEC party.
