The Paris Peace Agreement signed 21 years ago has failed to bring real democracy and improve human rights in Cambodia, analyst says. “The success of the Paris Peace Agreement is that we have achieved peace and there is no more civil war,” said Prom Saunora, a rights activist in Washington. “But it fails on the democracy and human rights fronts.” VOA Khmer’s Kimseng Men interviewed Prom Saunora, who said many poor people have been forcefully evicted to pave way for development, and forest is granted for concession without taking into account the livelihood of local community.
