An IRI Staff Receives a Threatening Phone Call - 2004-01-27

A Cambodian staff working for the U.S. International Republican Institute (IRI) told VOA he received a threatening telephone call from an unknown person, using a mobitel number, one day after the funeral of the slain union leader Chea Vichea.

The local IRI staff who asked not to be identified said he believed he was threatened after he circulated the statements made by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and U.S. Senate Majority Whip Mitch McConnell condemning Chea Vichea's murder.
