Reports surfaced that there will be protests by some political parties before the announcement of the election results by the National Election Committee (NEC) on Friday, August 8, 2004.
The leader of opposition Sam Rainsy Party urged his supporters to remain calm.
The FUNCINPEC party made a similar announcement.
However, the Sam Rainsy party also said that if the NEC and the Constitution Council could not resolve its complaints, the party plans to stage a nationwide protest against the election results.
