Peace Corps Offers Cambodia Services

Peace Corps volunteers will arrive in Cambodia for the first time early next year to teach English and work in health education, a U.S. embassy official said Thursday.

An office will be opened in Cambodia in the nest few months and the agency will work with local leaders to determine where the volunteers can be best used, a statement said.

U.S. Embassy spokesman in Phnom Penh Jeff Daigle says that finding English teachers is something they can do fairly quickly.

Peace Corps Director Gaddi H. Vasquez and Cambodia's Deputy Chief of Mission to the U.S. Meng Eang Nay announced a historic new partnership between the Peace Corps and Cambodia, remarks U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia Joseph A. Mussomeli.
