Immigrants often struggle to assimilate while retaining the culture of their homeland. Cambodian-Americans fled the Khmer Rouge regime 40 years ago and many settled in Long Beach, California. Now many Cambodian-Americans are trying to reconnect with their roots through language class.
Pheng Pong-Rasy of DC-Cam’s genocide education project, said the new website will launch next week and is intended to be a free resource that Cambodians will be able to access from their smartphones to learn about their collective past.
