Peace Remains Distant in Myanmar's Kachin State

In Myanmar’s Kachin State, nearly 100,000 internally displaced people live in camps in territory controlled by the political arm of the insurgent Kachin Independence Army (KIA). This month marks renewed fighting between Myanmar government forces and the KIA, and among the sources of conflict is the control of resources, including jade and potential hydropower projects.
