Mourners are expected to throng the streets of Phnom Penh this week when Cambodia receives the body of its former monarch, Norodom Sihanouk, who died in Beijing early Monday of a heart attack. Cambodian officials say they expect at least 100,000 people to come out in Phnom Penh on Wednesday, when Sihanouk’s body is to be brought back by his son, King Norodom Sihamoni, and Prime Minister Hun Sen, who flew to Beijing Monday. Sihanouk’s body will be interred at the Royal Palace for viewing for three months before a cremation ceremony is held, Royal Palace officials and government spokesman Khieu Kanharith told VOA Khmer. VOA Khmer's Heng Reaksmey and Kong Sothanarith report from Cambodia.
