Opposition Party Will Lose Credibility if it Compromises Too Much

An important civil society warns that if the opposition party compromises too much with the ruling parties as the case shows today, this party might lose its popularity like the royalist FUNCINPEC party has done in the past.

The current political situation in Cambodia is being considered as being good compared to that of last year. This detente allows the opposition leader to return to Cambodia and not fearing arrest, and he also met with the government's leader last week which was being looked at as having a big family atmosphere.

The Center for Social Development's executive director Mr. Heav Veasna, is concerned about the opposition party's position would become a party waiting to compromise with politicians of other parties, and will eventually lose popularity.
