Prime Minister Hun Sen alleges that he will give opportunity for more political opposition parties, civil societies, and media to be formed, to prevent armed resistance groups from emerging, and that he does not want to rule the country with only one party.
He says that if he rules the country with only one party, then the leader who is not in his party will not be happy, and he has no other choice than forming an opposition party.
He says that this way, this leader will not use arms to fight him, but he will form an opposition party instead, and as a result Cambodians will not shed blood.
Mr. Hun Sen makes these comments at the annual work assessement ceremony of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction on Monday.
His comments are being interpreted as saying that Mr. Sam Rainsy can go ahead with his opposition party if he does not wish to join the CPP.
Mr. Hun Sen says that he cares more about Cambodian people being poor, land grabbing, and water problem.
