Cambodian military officials say about 400 Thai troops prepared to withdraw from Preah Vihear region after negotiations between Cambodian and Thai military officials.
Preah Vihear officials claim Thai military built many military barracks on Cambodian territory where United Nations Transitional Authorities in Cambodia (UNTAC) used to camp out even before 1993.
Preah Vihear officials said the Thai military also cleared landmines in the area and has closed the border between the two countries since May 12.
Co-minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh said the Thai army has agreed to withdraw its troops after talks between the two sides and that there was no tension.
But the Preah Vihear officials said that Thai canons are still aimed at the Cambodian side.
