Cambodian police say they will reopen an investigation into the death of a Frenchman and his family.

The bodies of Laurent Vallier, 42, and his four children were found entombed in a vehicle submerged in a pond behind his home in Kampong Speu province in January 2012. No suspects have ever been arrested.

But the provincial court has ordered a reopening of the investigation, Mok Chito, director of internal security for the Ministry of Interior, told VOA Khmer, declining to give further details. “We are processing this case,” he said.

Provincial court judge Chhim Rithy said he requested a reopening of the investigation because “this case is important.” He requested the Ministry of Interior widen its search for suspects and begin questioning people in other provinces.
