Rights Expert Pessimistic About Cambodia's Reform Prospects

A prominent human rights expert says that the ruling Cambodian People's Party’s recent move to add people from the security forces into its Central Committee creates “a huge conflict of national interest.” Brad Adams, director for Asia at Human Rights Watch told VOA Khmer recently that he is further concerned that the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party's lack of clear policy positions would undermine its ability to pressure the CPP for effective reforms. VOA Khmer’s Ten Soksreinith spoke to Brad Adams in Washington about issues surrounding these reforms.
