Cambodians in Washington raised more than $15,000 for the Kantha Bopha Hospital on Saturday, at an event sponsored by the Cambodian Embassy.

The hospital, which operates out of Cambodia, needs funds to continue operations.

Speaking to around 300 people at the event, Ambassador Hem Heng welcomed the donations, which came primarily from Cambodian-Americans living in and around Washington, but also from individuals from other states, like Pennsylvania and Florida.

The fundraiser will likely mark his last public event, said the outgoing ambassador, whose term is coming to an end this year after six years in the US capital.
