Association of Independent Government Workers Gets Permission to Operate - 2005-01-31

The association of independent government workers starts to operate officially this Monday.

In a recent letter to the association, co-minister of the ministry of the interior Sar Kheng said the association is now officially registered. The letter also said the association has to remain neutral and can not be bias against any race or religion.

The president of the association Mr. Men Nath says his organization is independent, has no affiliation with any political party, and will follow all the rules and regulations.

Mr. Men Nath tells VOA that his association will push for the salary increase for the government workers and will help fight corruption in the government.

He also says his association has plan to open branches in the provinces as well.
