The National Democratic Institute (NDI) based in Washington DC welcomes internal reforms in the FUNCINPEC and the Sam Rainsy party (SRP).
NDI Senior Program Director Muth Chantha calls the internal reforms a progress in democracy.
FUNCINPEC has implemented a number of changes including the reduction in the numbers of deputy secretary-generals and the membership fees.
As for the SRP, selection of officers will be done by voting and there will be a limit on the term of the secretary-general.
