In a meeting Monday, FUNCINPEC President, Prince Norodom Ranaridh expressed his sorrow to the US Ambassador Charles Ray by saying that the death of former US president Ronald Reagan is the loss of a true American hero.
A FUNCINPEC Spokesman said Prince Ranariddh told Ambassador Ray that around the world, President Reagan will be remembered for his role in the breakup of the former Soviet Union.
Cambodian officials and people put flowers in front of the US Embassy in Phnom Penh to express their condolescence for the former President.
During the Reagan admnistration in the 1980's, the US gave some support to the Cambodian resistance fighters along the Thai-Cambodian border in which the FUNCINPEC Party was involved.
