King Sihanouk Invites Cambodian Politicians to Pyongyang - 2004-05-11


Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk invites the three main political parties to come to Pyongyang, North Korea to meet with him to discuss about the formation of the new government.

In an open letter to the Cambodian people Tuesday, the King said Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, FUNCINPEC president Norodom Ranariddh and Opposition party leader Mr.Sam Rainsy do not have to come personally. He said they could send a representative of their parties.

CPP spokesman Khieu Kanharith said Mr. Hun Sen and Prince Ranariddh have written a letter to respond to the King but he did not elaborate on the contents of the letter. There's no reaction from FUNCINPEC or the Sam Rainsy Party yet.
