FUNCINPEC Regrets CPP's Decision to Suspend Talks - 2004-05-04

FUNCINPEC regrets CPP's decision to suspend talks to form a new government.

On Monday, the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) unilaterally suspended talks saying Ta Prohm radio station continued to attack CPP.

FUNCINPEC general secretary, Prince Norodom Sirivuth wrote a letter to CPP's head of working group, Mr. Say Chhum saying Ta Prohm's broadcast does not represent FUNCINPEC's position.

FUNCINPEC's spokesman, Mr. Neou Kassie said CPP is using Ta Prohm as a scapegoat. He said the real problem is that CPP found the remaining issues too difficult to solve.

CPP spokesman Khieu Kanharith cannot be reached for comments.
