Phnom Penh Residents Express Disappointment in the Outcome of Ranariddh-Hun Sen Meeting - 2004-03-22

Following the summit meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Prince Norodom Ranariddh at the Prince's residence on March 15, 2004, a number of government officials and local residents in Phnom Penh expressed their disappointment at the results of what they called "unilateral" and "closed-door" negotiations.

They said Prince Norodom Ranariddh has betrayed the spirit of the November 5 agreement between the three main parties at the Royal Palace and the principles of the Alliance of Democrats.

However, after his meeting with Prince Ranariddh on March 17, the leader of the opposition party, Mr. Sam Rainsy told VOA that he and Prince Ranariddh had a very clear understanding of each other's position, and asked the public to be a little more patient.
