The King Is Urged to Help Reopen Chea Vichea's Murder Investigation - 2004-02-11

The Cambodian Watchdog Council sent a letter to King Norodom Sihanouk in Beijing, asking the Cambodian monarch to intervene in reopening the investigation into the murder of the popular union leader, Chea Vichea, last month. The Council said in the letter the arrest of the two suspects by the Cambodian police was staged.

The Council said the Cambodian Civil Societies have been conducting their own investigation and found no evidence connecting the two suspects. Cambodian deputy police commissioner said he would welcome any hard facts that would help in finding Chea Vichea's killers.
