Prince Norodom Ranariddh Says There Is New Hope In Forming New Government - 2004-02-06

Prince Norodom Ranariddh, President of the FUNCINPEC Party and of the Alliance of Democrats, told reporters on Friday upon his arrival in Phnom Penh from Bangkok that there is "new hope" that Cambodia's three main parties could soon resolve the country's six-month stalemate.

The Prince said there has been progress, and there are only a few remaining issues to be discussed, and the three main parties could resume negotiations as early as Saturday.

Prince Ranariddh left Cambodia in November after Prime Minister Hun Sen filed the suit claiming the Prince defamed him by alleging that the Prime Minister was involved in the murder of a Ta Prum radio journalist.

Prince Ranariddh arrived in Cambodia a few hours after Prime Minister Hun Sen agreed to withdraw his law suit.
