Ex-Ambassador to Cambodia Seeks Remains of US Soldiers


Charles A. Ray appeals to Prime Minister Hun Sen Wednesday for support in locating the remains of U.S. soldiers, believed to be in Kratie province.

Charles Ray was an ambassador to Cambodia from 2002 to 2005.

The former U.S. ambassador to Cambodia says that there are 54 U.S. soldiers still missing in action (MIA) in Cambodia.

Ray, a veteran in the Vietnam War, says that his team will be in Cambodia for the next 2-3 weeks to conduct investigation that might lead them to aircraft crash sites or potential burial location.

Until now, his search team has been able to recovered 29 remains of missing American soldiers in Cambodia.

Ray plans to leave Cambodia for Vietnam on Wednesday. He is on a special mission to find out the whereabouts of the missing U.S. soldiers.
