Union Groups Plan to March for Workers' Rights


The president of Cambodfian independent Teachers' Association distributes about 80,000 fliers appealing to the people, the teachers, government officials, motorcycle peddicab drivers to join a rally to be held on the international labor day on May first, at a garden in front of the National Assembly.

The rally's goal is to ask for a salary raise for teachers and workers, and a lower fuel price.

President of the Kingdom of Cambodia's Association of Free Labor Union Workers Chea Moni says that he expects more than people to participate in the rally. He will ask for a raise in a minimum salary for the teachers to be 400,000 riels about $100, and for the workers to be about $90 a month.

He will also ask for better working conditions for the workers.
