Asia Human Rights Commission (AHRC) appeals to Prime Minister Hun Sen to immediately repeal criminal defamation law which is the cause of repression on the expression of opinion in accordance with democracy.
This appeal was made after Mr. Hun Sen announced his decision to repeal criminal defamation law by asking the Ministry of Justice to do so on March 28.
But this decision has never been followed up to date.
The AHRC's statement which VOA receives Wednesday says that this organization appeals again to Mr. Hun Sen and the government to repeal the criminal defamation law and promote the freedom of expression in Cambodia.
The AHRC also appeals to the international donor countries and the signatory countries of the Paris Peace Agreement to work with the Cambodian government to repeal this law
