Ministry of Women's and Veteran' s Affairs is Happy With Anti-Domestic Violence Act


The Ministry of Women's and Veteran's Affairs, and NGOs officials conduct a ceremony welcoming the passing of a law against violence which King Sihamoni signed on October 24 after a ten- year wait.

This law has 37 articles and 8 sections, was passed by the National Assembly on September 16. Ms. Ing KanthaPhavy, Minister of Women's and Veteran's Affairs says that this law is an instrument against domestic violence and protects the victims.

The president of Cambodia Human Rights and Development Association ADHOC's Women's Rights, Lim Moni says that this law will reduce domestic violence but she is worried about its implementation.

The organization against domestic violence's president, Hor Phally says that her organization is waiting to spread the news throughout the provinces to stop domestic violence and protect the victims, and their families.
