Hundreds of garment workers in Sihanouk Ville walked out of their jobs today because their Chinese boss did not pay them on time.
The United Garment Factory paid its employees late several times in the past. Miss Nakry, President of the Free Workers Union said that the employees came from rural areas, and some owed rental money, some need medicines, and while others owed money for their meals.
Mr. Lak Kuon, administrative Chief of the garment factory confirmed the walk out but appealed to the workers to agree to half of the salary first, because the owner could not get his money from a couple of merchants in Hong Kong.
