Cambodia-US-Human Trafficking

  • VOA News

Cambodia's prime minister is dismissing charges by the United States that it is among the world's major traffickers of human beings.

A U.S. State Department report issued last week named Cambodia, along with Burma, North Korea and 11 other nations, as countries whose governments do not fully comply with the minimum standards on human trafficking and are not making significant efforts to do so.

But Prime Minster Hun Sen says the U.S. committed far worse crimes when it bombed Cambodia to flush out Vietnamese communists during the Vietnam War.

Many Cambodians are killed and maimed each year by bombs and landmines left from the conflict.
