Former King Sihanouk Wants National Supreme Council on Border Issues to Meet in China

Former King Norodom Sihanouk wants the meeting of the Supreme National Border Committee to be held in Beijing instead of in Phnom Penh.

The meeting of the newly formed committee to solve Cambodian border issues with its neighbors was previously scheduled to meet in Phnom Penh.

The former King was previously scheduled to return to Cambodia on May 8 but yesterday sources close to the royal palace told VOA the former King planned to delay the return trip.

Today King Sihanouk confirms that news of the delay in a letter posted on his website.

In the letter written in French and unofficially translated, the former king said his Chinese doctors recommended that he continued to stay in China for cancer treatment.
